ESA calculation

Options
Hello
We are a mixed age couple (my partner is of State Pension Age) and I am in the ESA support group also DLA High care Low mob  my partner has state pension and High PIP                                      So still on legacy benefits, including Housing Benefit.
(As a side note We are possibly moving to a different council area very soon if all goes well and I know this will make us move onto Universal Credit)

We have been lucky to get advice from this group, esp Poppy last year that we have a lot of premiums within our ESA. Which I am truly grateful for

Ive had the April letter through, breakdown as follows
Living expenses couple
Money due to partners age
Money as we are both disabled
Money as my partner is carer
Support group

Then they take away his SP leaving 328.55 ( this is on 12th April)

Now there is a bit lower down saying from the 31st May 2025 the ESA will be
282.15

His state pension goes from 893.85 to 921.00 on the 13th May

So I'm not sure how they have calculated it really

It seems as though its £46.40 difference. And just want to ensure I know what is what. Or have I missed something with all the changes
Many Thanks

I have looked at new rates government Benefits and Pensions for 25/26 and the only £46.40 is under
    Severe disability
    Single81.5082.90
    Couple (lower rate)81.5082.90
    Couple (higher rate)163.00165.80
    Disabled child80.0181.37
    Carer45.6046.40

so not sure why that would be any different on the 31st May. Any ideas ? Thanks

State pension is paid four weekly, the April payment will have some of the old rate and some if the new rate, then May will be wholly the new rate.

Thanks for the reply but I still don't understand why it is so different from the 31st May going forward

As I have worked it out like this 144.65

    153.45
                                                       165.80
                                                         46.40
                                                         48.50
    total                                    588.80

                    minus SP
    230.25

      328.55

I still can not make sense of that 46.40 at all difference a week ....seems a lot less

    The SP goes from
    221.20  to   230.25

    my twopennyworth.
Husband is on SP and a carer, therefore he gets underlying entitlement for carers because of overlapping benefit rules, it looks like they have removed the carer premium which is the amount relating the discrepancy from the 31st of May for some reason.
Best thing is to call them and ask for a call back to explain. I did this last week as also mixed age couple as had some anomalies on the breakdown, still waiting for call back.
    Best wishes

    Many thanks for your reply
That is what I thought as this was the only amount which tallied with the missing amount

Thanks for clarifying it. As when I phone up I can say what is missing rather than guess as such

Mmmm.... hope you get your call back soon. I will try Tuesday onwards and hopefully may get someone who understands ok.

    Thanks again. Much appreciated
