Parking Charge sent to old address

I moved house a couple of months ago and while I’d changed my driving licence address I forgot to change address of vehicle.  I have a tenant in my old house and he dropped off some old post to me, which included a parking charge for parking in a woods (i thought was free) and another with increased fee for not paying within the 14 days.

The company is group nexus, there is a photo of the vehicle leaving.

Am I stuffed and have to pay (may have gone further now but unsure whether to phone after reading other threads)? Or is there a way to avoid paying this ?  Owing to the fact I’m skint and this was meant to be a free activity to do with my toddler :/

Last time I had a parking charge I ignored it but they called me to court and at that point I panicked and paid the ridiculous amount

Any help gratefully received 🙏

    don't pay - but...

    1. read the newbees thread
    2. get your V5 updated
    3. get an email to the ICO of the relevant companies telling them your new address for service and telling them to ERASE any old ones they have.

    Change address?

So is the alleged breach on the pcn for non payment?
Was it a Country Park car park you parked in?

I have read the newbees thread, didn’t make any sense to me.  Is there something specific I should be looking at there?

Email parking eye and tell them new address you mean?  Why?

Anyone with any sense doesn't pay a private parking firm, why would you

This isn’t very helpful.  They threaten court that could end in a ccj.  Ccj effect future credit ratings and financial lendings for future landings

what is the rationale for not paying?

My understanding is they can take me to small claims court, and they have a photograph as evidence ?

It's a pity you haven't understood the NEWBIES advice. Your explanations especially of CCJ shows that.

I'm not sure either why you would email parking eye your address when you said your pcn was from Group Nexus. Nexus will be rubbing their hands able to send a court claim to your old address, claim goes undefended and they get an easy CCJ by default. Then they'll trace you to your current address and deliver the costly bill.

They may have a photograph but what exactly does it prove?

    I'll wish you good luck.

The Private Parking Company (PPC) has issued you with an invoice for allegedly breaking the terms of an assumed agreement which is contrived to extract money from you.
That's their business model and they hope most people will pay.
If you don't want to pay it, there is a process of escalation, which can lead to the parking scammer taking it to court.
You have the opportunity to defend the case if it goes to court.
If you lose the court case (including if you don't defend it or fail to turn up) then you will be ordered by the court to pay.
Only if you lose and don't pay what the court orders will you get a CCJ.
There are various things you can do to contest (they call it "appeal") their request for money, which are described in this group.
Many people do contest these demands and win.

DO NOT EVER DO THAT AGAIN!

Sorry ... but you do just need to read the fourth then second posts of the NEWBIES thread.

Please don't tell us it doesn't make sense.

Paying £170 because you wrongly think a CCJ is risked is really what made no sense! I'm astonished and sad that you did that last time.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
