Lease extension joint freeholders.

Hi.
I share joint freehold with my upstairs neighbour on a Victorian semi that's been converted into two flats. We also have a lease between us. I own outright and my neighbour has a mortgage. We are looking to extend the lease, currently at 68 years, as she's having to remortgage and it's been something we had planned to do anyway.
The solicitor I previously used for my conveyancing has said that the cost to do it will be PER FLAT, and with vat will be about £1200 each.
Can anyone tell.me if this is normal practice? Are we likely to find a solicitor that would handle them both together for one fee?
We get on well and neither of are contesting anything in the lease etc.

It is technically two separate transactions and a law firm is allowed to charge what they want. I would imagine if you were to shop around and ask them to act as transaction counsel for all parties that you may be able to find a better fee quote.1
