EV Switch from Octopus to OVO

I recently switched from Octopus Agile tariff (7p from 11.30pm to 5.30am) to OVO who offer a 7p tariff at any time of the day. They have now stated in writing to me that the standard rate of 24p is reduced by 7p for each unit used. https://www.ovoenergy.com/electric-cars/charge-anytime

Despite me saying that this is what is not advertised they refuse to change to 24p - 17p = 7p per unit for EV charging and say they are correct.
Am I wrong and if not how do I take this further?
Thanks
Peter

When you say "OVO who offer a 7p tariff at any time of the day. ", I presume you mean for EV charging only, not for whole of household, and that you do have a compatible EV charger?

Do you have a bill from OVO yet? Can you post that (with personal details redacted)?

It is clear that EV charging should be at 7p, not with a 7p discount. Where have OVO stated otherwise? Can you post the wording?

Taking it further means raising a complaint and then taking it to the energy ombudsman after 8 weeks (or deadlock).

I would assume that is just an uninformed CS response, unless and until you see it on a bill...

OVO charge you the full rate and then rebate you the difference between your standard rate eg 24p and the EV charge anytime rate of 7p. Be aware that they now have a cap of £100 a month on the rebate. You also need a compatible charger or a compatible car.

    Yes you are.

You are getting a credit of the unit rate minus 7p per kWh multiplied by the number of units used.

In this case your credit is 17p per kWh (24p minus 7p) for 67.11 kWh

    You were billed £16.1064 (24p x 67.11)

    You received a credit of £11.4087 ((24 - 7) x 67.11)

    You paid £4.6977 (£16.1064 - £11.4087) for 67.11 kWh

That is exactly 7p per kWh as it should be for 67.11 kWh of ev charging

You are confused by them reducing the unit rate by 7p, they aren't, they are reducing a credit by 7p so that you end up only paying 7p per kWh

    Yes, as Matt says above.
If a unit costs 24p, and OVO credit you with (24-7)p which is 17p, the effective cost of the unit  to you is 7p.

Move along, nothing to see here, everything is ok :)

OP, wait for your actual bill - it'll all be fine.
