    The bay is probably a cavity, as there's not much point switching to a solid wall for just the bay. Upper bays were not usually cavity, until recent years when bay lintels were produced.

    Looking at the photo with the plastic vent, there appears to be a DPC just above the concrete. The other photos with the sunken vents, I can't see the DPC. I think the first thing to do is confirm if there is a DPC (damp proof course) and the ground has not been raised, breaching the DPC.
