We just got this in the post today. From what I understand it's a prepaid/preload card with option of US$, Euro and £ currency. Anyone heard of it or used it? AE is offering a 'free' flight (excl. airport tax, passenger service charges and insurance) to New York or Boston, when you load a min US$1000 on it.

You mean they just sent you the actual card in the post? You didn't apply for it anywhere?
You'll find more details here. Basically, you have to load a minimum of £200 (or equivalent), and there's an upper limit of £3000. There's usually a £20 setup fee (although I've not seen the offer you have).
But, you'll get charged £1.50 for every withdrawal (max. £250 per day). So if you want to pre-load a plastic card, and then take it abroad with you to draw money out........... it's still the old favourite Nationwide Flex
Might be worth it if you can use the flight, although I'm guessing that you'll have to pay a lot for a second passenger if it's anything like most 'free flight' deals :rolleyes:0 -
No, didn't get the actual card, just the form to apply, enclosed in my AE statement.
Just wondered what it was about as I haven't heard or seen it before. I'm wary of these 'free' flight offers as well as the charges are usually about the same as low season/airline specials, but you never know, so thought to ask.0 -
