According to some supporters from another fifties women’s group CEDAWinLAW or Backto60 as they used to be called, the WASPI campaign is a scam! Instead of Legal action they are proposing mediation with the Secretary of State for Pensions Liz Kendall. I’m finding this all very confusing. Does anyone know why there appears to be several groups campaigning for different objectives?
You've just given your own answer... mixture of infighting/personality issues and genuine ideological differences (some people more radical than others).
And as Rachel from Accounts has an empty piggy bank - none of these disparate groups have any hope at all of success !
Are these groups crowd-funding from the "victims" and, if so, is the spend on those funds audited?

Just trying to understand the motivation for continuing on what is patently a lost cause.
Same reason anyone continues with what the rest of the world views as a lost cause: a pig-headed belief in the rightness of what they are doing, fear of losing face, nothing better to do, a genuine hope that something might change and they'll get at least some of what they are asking for...
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

Always a good idea to be alert for scams - see recent warning from ML:

    That thread has been closed.
No idea why as it was an official MSE thread.

WASPE threads are always closed eventually as they tend to get adversarial and political.

It’s bizarre that the last three threads on the subject that I can remember were started by MSE staff. Why start them if you already know (or should know) that you’ll have to close them shortly?

It attracted some cracking replies yesterday, including one that would have been a strong contender for "post of the year" if such an award existed.
Sadly all those replies were deleted ...

It seems that MSE always creates a forum thread for comments on any article they publish. No-one in MSE Towers has noticed (yet) that 🐝-y threads always lead to arguments and are best avoided ...

I think they were expecting replies asking the lines of "it's so terrible that these poor women who have been scammed by the government are being scammed again - they really must all be given a squillion pounds in taxpayers money right now" and... fair to say it didn't quite go that way.

Something to the effect of no point warning them on a forum, they'd need a personalised letter in the post?
Think that one reply could have closed the thread, honestly. Absolute destruction.
That post had 30 Thanks by the time I saw it.

Guilty as charged m'lud - I must admit that, while intended as a light-hearted and satirical comment rather than being overly critical, it did cross my mind that it might not survive admin scrutiny, but don't believe it directly resulted in thread closure, as that came later, after someone else had another go at a similar gag after mine had already been deleted.  Apologies if anyone was offended, or disappointed that the thread didn't develop, although, as above, the topic is usually pretty toxic, hence the title of this one:
