That's interesting @Grumpy_chap. I certainly wouldn't recommend Howden to anyone based on that (or anyway based on my experience) . They seem to be more than happy to deal with the end user but no consumer rights? I do however have guarantees/warrantees in my name for everything else we bought so that seems odd given what you've said. 🤔
However, I'm straying off the thread. My point in posting was to illustrate the need to see the oven before purchase and be aware that oven capacity is a poor indicator of the shape of what you want to cook. It's a bit like wanting your dog to drink a pint of water and giving to him in a milk bottle! 🤣0 -

That is why I decided against buying one after looking online0 -

When we purchased our oven, there was a trend for some ovens to be tall and narrow. The people marketing them made a note that you could roast five chickens at once. Each chicken in it's own roasting tray and they basically stacked up above each other on the shelves in the oven. Actually, a chicken is quite small and, frankly, I can't see that many times that there is a need in a domestic setting to have five roast chickens.
I don't think the idea ever caught on.0 -

In terms of deduction for use, installing an electric oven really isn't much, they usually just slide in the kitchen cabinet and are held in place with two screws so if the oven isn't scratched/marked/tec I can't really see how anyone would know it's been install (unless of course you have cooked in it and there is signs of that).
I would presume Currys would collect such an item in the event of cancellation and their terms likely state the fee for this.
Packaging it back up is probably the biggest bind.
Just to add to the pantomime, I'd find it very odd if an oven didn't have an indication of when it's reached the set temperature.
Not sure if OP is coming back but a link to the model purchased would be interesting. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
Everyone seems to be talking about electric ovens, yet the OP stated they ordered an electric cooker. Two completely different appliances and trickier installation.I don’t think it really matters what the manual says anyway. This would have been provided after the sale had been completed and wouldn’t form part of the contract. What matters is what was stated in the product description prior to purchase. You can cancel the contract within 14 days OP, but you would be responsible for any associated costs as I can’t see how this was mis-described.0

Ergates said:"Cooker" is a generic term that can apply to an over or a hob. Given the OP's complaint was that the "cooker" didn't have an indicator that it was up to temperature this is is obvious they're talking about an oven.
Which would be cleared up if OP said which cooker or a link to currys site so people could see how it was worded🤷♀️Life in the slow lane0 -
