Back billing and IVA ignored

Hi, I am so confused over my statements with BG.
ive been back billed since 2022 till now.

They passed me onto debt collectors claiming I owed £3431 THEN TWO DAYS LATER claimed I owe £4285!
I’ve spoken to debt collectors and told them of my IVA, asked how I’ve been charged a further £800 odd within 2 days, and it should be £2725 less due to IVA.
I’ve shared evidence to them and British Gas that something is not right.

Today I’ve looked up my BG acc because I received a welcome email (as if I’ve just joined them). I logged onto my account and it says I cannot enter new readings because I’ve left. I haven’t left!!

The latest bill has been readjusted, now stating I owe £2551 due to cancelling some back billing.

I am so confused and do not trust them.

I have a 4 bed, and 4 kids in full time education (youngest is 8).

This last year I lost my job, and entered an IVA due to too much debt.
i owed over £2700 due to back billing from 2022 to 2024. I also informed them of unemployment. Paid what I could every month, and was only able to find temporary contract jobs this last year (my new permanent job starts 7th April).
BG does not acknowledge my IVA that they have been included in, even though the IVA has been paying them AND they are on the IVA annual summary.

Do I go to ombudsman?

I’ve just logged onto my account again. The account that they closed states I owe £2551.31. (I didn’t close this account)
i have a new account on the system that states I am in credit of £853.99.. I am soo confused. That haven’t explained why they have done this.

They closed the account because you are in an IVA and the debt before that date will now be dealt with by your Insolvency Practitioner.

However, you are still using fuel and you are liable for usage after the IVA date, hence the new account.

It sounds like the latter is in credit so nothing to worry about

Why didn’t they close the account when I told them I started the IVA a year ago. Would stop all the confusion and stress from all the letters telling me to pay up

    Because they are totally inefficient!
