Estimates in IHT400

I've just submitted Self Assessment forms to HMRC for the deceased 2023-2024 and 2024-Death (HMRC asked for them as he had underpaid tax). I'm guessing they will take weeks for get back to me with their calcs for tax owed. Rather than wait can I submit the IHT400 with provisional figures for these debts?

Yes but mark it down as an estimate on the form. I had a similar situation and rang HMRC just before submitting the IHT forms and asked how much was owing. They told me so I used that as the estimate which turned out to be accurate. If it is different you should tell IHT the revised figure0
