Switching supplier with 2 mpans

Hi, my property was previously listed as having a complex meter (scottish power).
This resulted in two mpans.
Scottish power attended the property to check the meter, remove two old meters which were not connected but still there, and they updated the national database to reflect that the property had 2 mpans but one of them is listed as deenergised.
The remaining meter is listed as connected to the energised mpan.
I tried to switch to Eon, they told me it was unsuccessful due to the mpan being listed as deenergised.
I've asked for them to try again using the energised one and they've said it should go ahead later this week.
However I am preempting them rejecting it again on the confusion of there being a 2nd mpan.
Is there anything I can or should do to alert scottish power to make it accessible for eon to switch over. (eg are they able to add info to the database to explain why 2 mpans).
Is there anything other people have done to make a switch run smoothly when theyve had the burden of a previously complex meter?
(its listed as single rate meter on the database and connected to the energised mpan.)
Is it common for energy suppliers to refuse a switch if one mpan is deenergised?
(prior to them agreeing to try the energised mpan, the eon rep said to contact scottish power to ask them to reenergise the mpan, but that feels like it would be undoing the resolution they had for correcting the info for the other meter!).
Any advice welcome, thanks.

Phantom second mpans have been a real issue in the past for some trying to switch in former multirate homes - not sure if deenergised or not.
Hopefully it will get through now EOn using the correct still live and present meter mpan and not just the first one of two found tied to your address.
I had 2 meters, one rts one normal - and 2 MPANs and 2 standing charges on my old EMEB setup - both on one dno supply / fuse. I hope EOn updated records properly - my neighbour switched soon after we al, had their enforced rts to digital meter change - I got quotes ok - but didnt switch in end.
Not sure if it will get deleted after a time - it's not like it normally refers to anything other than the meter - which is now gone. Perhaps you could kick SP again to try to get the deenergised record removed (*). But not sure what the true process should be.
Edit
(*) If I remember the posts it is normally the supplier in charge at time of change who makes the record corrections.
