Looks like Hasting's policy wordings, in which case I suspect underneath you will then have the description of the optional guaranteed service which is a hire car.

The above case, which is another Hasting's company, may be of interest given it has the same wording for the replacement car service. The ombudsman felt that £10/day was the appropriate compensation for the delay in provision of the courtesy car after the first 2 days.

Using the term "will" I feel swings it, as the person didn't hire a car it's just compensation rather than be able to claim hire cost back if she actually hired a car.

£10/day is probably not coincidentally also the amount paid to a TP for Loss of Use if there is a reason a replacement vehicle cannot be provided and there is no direct financial loss (ie we arent talking about weird commercial vehicle)

Because they do explicitly sell a Hire Car option that the OP chose not to take the ombudsman may not think they are entitled to hire car costs but the LoU. The other thing to note between the two is that the courtesy car is a Group A vehicle (ie smallest thing possible) but the hire car option goes a bit larger (dont have the policy book to hand now but with another firm it was up to a "D" so Focus or slightly larger). For the OP to have any chance to get them to cover a hire car it would have to be the smallest thing possible and not a like for like or equivalent.

Thank you, the case was helpful to read through. I’m planning to submit a complaint to Hastings to see what the outcome would be

Yes that’s true. I did however check prior to entering the lane and there was sufficient space at the time, so my belief is that the other driver was not paying due attention to the road at the time.
To make matters more confusing, the other driver’s insurance has now sent me a letter accepting liability and offering to repair my car, but I unfortunately cannot take them up on this offer whilst my car’s being repaired by my own insurer without incurring further costs. I’m hoping to contact my insurer to see if they are able to return the claim to a non-fault claim considering the other party had already verbally accepted liability, and their insurance is also accepting liability for it.

Make sure your insurer gets a copy of that letter.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
