Fingerprint sign in on Windows 11 laptop

I use the fingerprint log in option when starting up my Dell Inspirion Windows 11 laptop but is there a way to not have to redo this every time my laptop screen goes off due to inactivity every few minutes. I would rather just hit a single key to reawaken the laptop rather than using the fingerprint option or any PIN code etc if possible?
Many thanks

do you need to have your screen go.off due to inactivity ?0

Did you look at 'alternatively' ?If that doesn't work then Olinda99 asks the same as I was going to ask next - if this is a laptop that nobody has access to (only you use it) then go into the Power settings and set them to never sleep or hibernate. You should still be able to let it blank the screen after a certain time if you want that.PS. Im just thinking about the 'If youve been away' option being greyed out, are you logging in as an administrator account or as a standard user.0

many thanks. I think the suggestion to adjust my power settings to never sleep but just turn the screen off is the one that will suit me best.Newcad said:Did you look at 'alternatively' ?If that doesn't work then Olinda99 asks the same as I was going to ask next - if this is a laptop that nobody has access to (only you use it) then go into the Power settings and set them to never sleep or hibernate. You should still be able to let it blank the screen after a certain time if you want that.PS. How do I log in as administrator as opposed to a standard user please?0 -
It's more a case of how your account has been set up, different users can change different things. Some accounts have admin privileges and can change 'important' settings, settings that can affect all users of that computer. Often they will be asked if they are sure they want to do that.Other accounts don't have those privileges so can only change 'lesser' settings like the background picture they see, etc. rather than how things work for everyone in that machine. It's a big subject, try googling 'computer user permissions' and prepare for a long read.0
