Universal credit for disabled Uni students

My son has autism and receives PIP, UC and LCWRA. He started a place at Uni, foundation year Oct ‘24 and lives at home. He applied for a maintenance loan and was granted extra because of receiving PIP (total amount £10,158) of which £4,327 is special support element and discounted as income = £5,831 counted as income. He also has £2,000 savings. His UC claim has been closed. I was expecting a reduction in UC monies but not a closure of his account. Please can anyone tell me if this is a correct decision?

Benefits and disabled students is a complex area.
Disability Rights UK have a disabled student helpline:

On the face of it it seems incorrect but what figures does his UC statement show and how long is the course?

I would recommend the Disability Student Helpline. I used them for a similar query last year and they were really helpful.KxMx said:Benefits and disabled students is a complex area.

What was the closure reason? There is usually a reason recorded for closure.
Also, when did the UC claim start and when was LCWRA awarded as that may be relevant?1
