Anyone got any experience of them?

  • In general I'd avoid any company directly recommended by estate agents, be it conveyancer, mortgage broker, etc. Usually some form of kickback is involved so of course they would like you to use them but are the they best or cheapest or most appropriate? Usually not.

Search Shoosmiths on here, you will get a lot of comments about the non-conveyancing work they do, particularly in personal injuries etc. That isnt to say one part of a business being good or bad mirrors the rest of it but if your finding are negative potentially proceed with caution.

Seems that most people dont realise it, at least according to many claiming compensation on here, but companies typically recommend another firm because they get commission for doing so. A decent firm hopefully balances the amount of commission and the quality of service relative to their own when deciding which firm to recommend but there is no guarantee they haven't just gone for the one offering the most money for referrals.
