Advice please for transferring national insurance credits to grandparent!

Hi, my dad has two years missing from being able to have a full set of National Insurance contributions. He helped to look after my children when they were younger, allowing my wife - who is the one who receives child benefit - to return to work.
I would like us to help him be able to fill this 2 year gap, I believe my wife can transfer credits for these over to him, however, we are unsure what it means for her own National Insurance contributions; obviously we don't want her to not receive a full state pension!
Below are some indicative points that I believe suggest she is fine to transfer them, and not be a problem for her:
- My wife was in full-time work for a number of these years - am I right in thinking, that she will have received a credit for this and ALSO have a credit for the child benefit?
- If the above is correct, how or where can I see this to confirm?
If she transfer the credits over to my dad, say the child benefit ones, will she still have her credits for the same year from working?
- If she does have a credit from child benefit and one from working a full year (in the same year), can she only ever use one of these from that year? We were not sure if you can use them for two years, if that makes any sense?
- My wife has another 11 years to pay credits to get a full state pension, she was wondering, if she got ill during this time and was unable to work - what would happen in terms of credits? If she had given up these two credits to my dad, would that be a problem, or would those credits at that point be pointless anyway?
Any help would be really appreciated as we are really struggling understand it all and don't want to mess it up!
Thanks

Look at her NI record in her on line tax account. If you click on a year it will show the breakdown of how it was filled. You will not be able to transfer the year if it would leave her short. The credits are only applicable to the year they were earned in so giving away those CB credits would not offset any future gaps.MrsM has a year filled multiple times due to working and credits but it still only counts as one year.0
