You have kept to a strategy for 5 consecutive months, contacting creditors now at this late stage is not a good idea.

Especially when you can only offer token payments, which in all honestly are a complete waste of everyone`s time.

As the debt gets no smaller, it costs the lender more to process the payments than they are actually worth, and it just keeps re-setting the statute barred clock with every payment you make, so not really a good idea.

They are more likely to tell you not to pay anything, until your situation improves, rather than accept something that will cost them money to process.

So think again about what you are doing here, get your CT and energy bills up to date, concentrate on doing that, and by then there should be progress on the non essential side of things, don`t mess it all up now, you`re doing great, keep it up.
As I have previously indicated, my primary concern is that I keep thinking I will lose my home in the end because the total amount I owe exceeds £30,000; otherwise, I don't mind waiting a bit longer.
RAS said in another comment that I might be able to apply for write-offs due to my mental health issues (ADHD and Anxiety) or make affordability claims. How likely is it that one of these will be granted?

You are not going to lose your home for £30k consumer debt. That's small beer as far as creditors are concerned.

The people who can get arsy are those to whom you owe personal debt. Amex might try to fix a debt with a CCJ.

Even if you got a CCJ, you'll be asked to make an affordable monthly payment. Do that any you'll hear very little from your creditor.

Charging orders are rare as hen's teeth.

And orders for sale so rare the data's no longer collected, which probably means less than 5 a year. Those folk will owe hundreds of thousands or millions and are not co-operating with court orders.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

Thanks for your encouraging words. They really helped put my mind at ease. I think I’ll hold on and wait for the defaults to happen.

I know I keep changing my mind, but it’s mainly due to my anxiety flaring up from time to time. When that happens, I feel overwhelmed and start to doubt myself. But whenever I post here and get supportive replies like yours, I feel grounded again, at least for a while, until the anxiety creeps back in.

So thank you again. Your reassurance means a lot.

    Edited for clarity.
A creditor can get a charging order if the CCJ payments are up to date; but they cant send bailiffs round. See https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/debt-and-money/action-your-creditor-can-take/charging-orders/

Hi again, Aqua sent me a default notice on May 10, 2025, and they gave me until May 31st  to pay the arrears. They still have not registered the default with the Credit Reference Agencies. Should I be worried?
