Any help/advice would be gratefully received. These kind of things are not my forte!
I had a parking charge letter back in 2022. The situation is that I was on a date, date paid for the cinema tickets. We were running late for the film and were ushered into the cinema without being directed to the registration entry pad that is behind the ticket counter and out of immediate sight and obviously after seeing the film, didn't realise either. Fast forward two months and I found a letter stating I was to pay a £100 fee with the appeal date for POPLA overdue. My fault, it had been chucked in the junk mail pile.
I emailed them with the ticket booking that my date at the time had purchased and explained what happened. Didn't hear anything else for over 2 years until I moved house and changed my logbook which is when I've received the latest letter from DCBL stating that I owe £170.
I spoke to DCBL - pointless really. They just said that they can't engage with any dispute of the claim and when I asked who I should contact, said there isn't anyone, do you want to pay now? At which I replied no, I'm going to explore my options. So here I am.
I'm aware that Parkingeye are of the more 'litigious' variety. What would be your suggestions on moving forwards? The Odeon cinema don't have a good record in helping cancel any fines.
I'm a single parent and really cannot afford to pay it at the moment.

Well you won't be paying at all.
We assume this isn't in Scotland?
Stop phoning DCB.Read the 2nd post of the NEWBIES thread.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Wait until either Parking Eye or DCB Legal ( not dcbl , powerless debt collectors ) contact you about it, in writing, in a letter
Meanwhile, keep any proof of cancellation by the landowner or business safe for the next few years , or try it now, plan A
Ignore DCBL , no contact, no phone calls, block them ( post 4 in the newbies sticky thread in announcements near the top of the forum )2 -
Ok so try Odeon again to see if they'll cancel it, wait 'until' I get a letter before action from either parkingeye or their legal team and if so, contact their solicitors via the email template? As an initial approach...?1

Odeon if they own the car park, landowner if that isn't the Odeon, start with their manager and give them a copy of the pcn, VRM details, any proof of patronage etc ( not originals ) etc
Depends which option Parking Eye choose, in house litigation, or via DCB Legal instead, if at all , but neither you nor us can tell at the moment2
