EPSON DX8400 PRINTER - Very faint

I've got quite an old printer but it's worked absolutely fine for years. All of a sudden the wording was coming out very faint. Decided to ditch all the cartridges and bought a brand new pack of all 3 colours plus black (genuine Epson) and replaced them all. Still the same problem!!! Went into maintenance and followed all the instructions for cleaning the heads and alignment etc. but stil not printing out anything legible. Can't understand why this has happened all of a sudden?
Would be a shame to throw it out, can anyone suggest anything else I could try?
Thanks.

Can be damp in the paper - paper absorbs water from the air so gradually becomes imperceptibly damp once a packet has been opened. Has your paper been sitting around for a while?Decluttering awards 2025: 🏅🏅🏅⭐️ ⭐️, DH: 🏅⭐️ and one for Mum: 🏅0

Thanks to both replies. No, the paper is bone dry. The printer doesn't have an ink saving mode I'm afraid. The search continues!0
