Mk4 Prius, do I need to continue taking it to the main dealer or shall I use a local independent?

Purchased a gen 4 Prius last year with full main dealer history. 

Do I need to take the car to the main Toyota dealer? They have equipment that can test the condition of the hybrid battery which presumably a local independent can’t do. Is there anything else I should know about?

I’d prefer to take to my local specialist garage who services my other vehicles - they only deal with high performance marques

How old is it and what is the mileage?

If under 10 and 100,000 investigate the Toyota Relax warranty terms.

By "Gen4", you mean an XW50 - 2015 to 2022?



Yes, you will definitely save a lot of money over franchise dealer labour rates and parts prices.

Most decent garages will have diagnostic equipment that's perfectly capable of things like battery health.
