What do you mean without Outfox the Market?

IHD's are not dependent on the supplier. If it worked with OFTM then it will work with a new supplier as well.

You can buy third party IHDs - but they might not work anyway - so question is why didn't OFTM provide one ?

If it was han (home area network) range - distance between comms hub and room - e.g. in a flat with remote meters - you wont be able to buy one that will work anyway.

But you could ask if they will provide an Alt han setup to overcome range - it uses the mains wiring - from meter to a local plug in adaptor.

They might be reluctant, but soon could -  as looks like ihd failures may be subject to a £40 compensation under New propsed Ofgem guidelines - have more of a financial incentive to do so.

None of the apps will tell you the index readings of your meter registers. Only a real IHD (one connected to the HAN) will do that.

You don't. The free IHD is a one-off when your meter is installed.
You can buy an Ivie Bud for about £50, if you really want an IHD?
There was a post fairly recently linking to a trial / survey that would get you a free Ivie Bud if you signed up. I don't know if it is still open but a search of the forum might find it.

Did it break since you switched supplier or did you ask previous supplier for replacement ?

    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/smart-meter-in-home-display-voluntary-replacement-principles/smart-meter-in-home-display-voluntary-replacement-principles

Principle 2: Once the IHD is confirmed as being missing or broken and cannot be repaired, a supplier should offer a replacement IHD or provide a means by which a replacement can be purchased.

... and even with a real IHD, you may only get a single electricity meter reading for total import on the IHD, not individual readings for each register, so not always helpful if you are on E7 or a smart tariff.

... and actively misleading if your meter has been changed from E7 to single rate as the correct meter reading will not be the total import in all cases...
