Good morning it's a fine start here.
Yesterday was sunny but the wind was bitter.
We are lunching out with ds, dil, and dil's mum to celebrate Mother's day, as we did last year. Dd and family are in their cottage in Weardale for the weekend as usual, but we'll see them late afternoon when they come back.
That's today's plans.
Hope everyone is ok - I know today is not a happy time for all mothers - warm thoughts and hugs to you if this is the case.
Take care folks

Good morning
Thank you for the start @ScarletRibbons
Sadly won't be seeing Ds and family today, so I'm going to the local shopping centre this morning. Don't need much but it will help pass the day.
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.13 -
Good morning
Cloudy start but mild. I didn't get on here yesterday, I had a long phone call with my BF, her husband is going along well after his surgery, although he's getting frustrated at not being able to do things yet.
No plans for today, I'll be seeing DD in a few weeks. Happy Mother's day to all mums, and if like me you have it child you're no longer in contact with, treat yourself, or wait until tomorrow when flowers and chocs will be reduced!
Have a good day whatever you're doing. Take care.12 -

Morning all - thanks for starting us off @Scarlet.I wrote a lovely post over an hour ago, pressed on the wrong place and lost it so I did a bit of browsing instead of re-writing it.My late DM always told me to not buy her flowers after Mother's Day as she objected to the high prices which seemed to rise every year in a commercialisation take-over of the original sweet sentiment. She mostly enjoyed daffodils anyway. Today can be difficult for some, for varying reasons, I still offer silent thanks to the ether and I hope that others can too.The weather yesterday became very challenging, it was as if a winter storm had returned to taunt us. Pelting rain all day and then the blustery howling winds started which continued right into the night. Still its very windy outside though the day is bright. I only went out twice yesterday. First time for a very yummy though huge breakfast and then again later to pick up some particularly Scottish mini-wafers to take to the friends I'm going to visit tomorrow. Four tubs of the stuff have joined the piles of unwanted kitchen gadgets in the boot of my car.As for today - I shall wait to see if the winds blow me anything wonderful. The change of clocks was strangely discombobulating this year, no idea why, so will sit quietly drinking my coffee for a wee while more.@Nan - so lovely to see you again and you're not moaning! We all use this space to share our happiness and woes, and that definitely includes you.Hugs to our poorlies and those who are having a tough day for whatever reason. Mass celebrations are weird for those not included, it heightens the feelings of sadness and loss. xx11

Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet, enjoy your meal out.
Bright here after yesterday's epic rain and high winds, washing on the line and more to do - need to make the most of the good weather! I'm having to wash my coat again as it was hung in the restaurant yesterday and must have been next to a jacket of a smoker - it was really smelly.
Last night was really good - the food was ok but the restaurant very noisy and I felt we were hurried out so they could move the table to join another group. The show was really good, we were the jury for a murder trial and very surprisingly I voted the right way and even got the correct person who committed the deed - very pleased with myself!
I'll probably need a nanna nap later as it was a late night and the clocks changed too.
I've had messages from the children for Mother's Day but asked them not to buy cards/gifts and to save their money - it's too commercial for my liking. Hope anyone being treated has a good time and it's not too difficult for those missing loved ones.
Gardening today as it's not raining, my own garden is a bit of a state although the allotments are looking good.
Take care. XX

Hi everyone and happy mother's day if you are celebrating.
The meal last night was very enjoyable, we were the only non-family there and it's ten years since we saw most of them so it was nice to catch up.
We're hoping to see Steve's nephew and family this morning before we leave, but it depends on them.
Nanny, I'm sorry you've not been well again. I know how you feel about complaining, sometimes I start to post and it makes me feel worse so I shelve it for another day.
Have a good day.12 -
Morning all, thanks for starting us off @Scarlet. Today's weather is set to be a repeat of yesterday with sunny intervals and a moderate breeze. I suspect the breeze may take the edge off the temperature though but at least it should be dry.
The only thing I had to manually change the time on for the start of BST was my bedroom clock and I did that before I got into bed last night so I wouldn't be confused when I woke up this morning - I get confused easily enough at the best of times! I didn't do much yesterday but did manage to make some hummus and do some more cross stitch. It's supposed to be "intermediate" but I'm finding it harder than that - maybe I'm just out of practice. I shall persevere!
Nothing special planned for today so I'll just go with the flow and have a please myself day although I do have a hankering to make a batch of mini Yorkshire puddings, a couple for today and the rest for the freezer. Tea tonight is chicken casserole, mash and sprouts.
For those celebrating Mother's Day I wish you a happy day; hopefully fond memories for those whose DM is no longer here; for those with children who forget or just don't bother - well, treat yourself or do something you enjoy. Hugs for the sad or lonely, take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.13 -
Morning all
Happy Mother’s Day to all those celebrating and hugs to those who need them, I can hear my dd just getting up and I know she has a surprise or two for me bless her, I got my mum a plant your own sweet pea pot from M&S I thought she could put it by her front door so she can smell it when going in and out.
Roast pork for dinner later with all the trimmings I will do the prep this morning and then just have to cook it later, I’m sure dd and OH will help as well.
Gers we are going to book Albania today did you do any research? It does look stunning I think we are going in June so not too long to wait.
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
Silver-Oldie, Remmie and Izzy, I don't see my dd much, yet she only lives at the other end of our little town. We haven't fallen out, we saw a lot of the family when the kids were babies and toddlers, I suppose she doesn't need us now.
