Surprise CCJ - DCBL/ UKPCL / Merantun Way, Chapter Way

Hi all,

I recently failed to acquire a new credit card and after checking my credit report, I've found out I have been issued a CCJ. I will try to keep things as short and simple for you guys as I know you deal with thousands of these posts.

It seems DCBL filed the claim for UKPCL and acquired a CCJ over a parking ticket in Merantun Way, Morden.

October 2021- Date of contravention, some demand letters received and rightly ignored as: 1 They are a private firm, 2 I am sure a friend must have borrowed my car at that time and 3 I believe under PoFA 2012, they are unable to hold the keeper of the vehicle liable for the charge.

August 2022 - I moved out of address, my father died, I went through some mental health issues and stayed with a friend. I completely forgot to change DVLA details.

December 2022- I found a new home and started a new tenancy.

April 2023 - Issue of CCJ

March 2025 - I find out about CCJ. DVLA details updated.

Evidence for my defence:  1. Copy of tenancy agreement at new address dated 01/12/2022 to present. 2. Copy of council tax payments at new address.

I understand I need to send a N244 for a set aside and make a defence statement.

I wondered if anyone would be kind enough to reply with a checklist of what to do and any templates / advice.

Thanks in advance, you are all simply amazing!

@Coupon-mad I would really appreciate your advise on this matter. Also can you tell me if the fact that I only found out and changed my dvla details in march 2025 will cause problems?

    Thanks

None at all but NEVER do that again! You can't leave an old address on a vehicle registration.

Just read the NEWBIES thread section about what's needed to set aside a CCJ and copy from recent ones, e.g. by
