Cheap Energy Club got it wrong again !

Bizarrely, they had my electricity use at 5148 kWh when Scottish Power said it was 1376 !
That's four times too high and, incredibly, even greater than my gas usage - which was correct.
That is second time they have got my current figures wrong - see my earlier thread.
Why isn't anybody checking for obvious, glaring errors.
My advice is to check everything thoroughly yourself.
And I will repeat again that Martin should be made aware of these mistakes (he's still the boss!)
I also suggest that riders should be added to emails, websites and Martin's statements that it's sometimes possible that the Cheap Energy club calculations are not perfect.

The ideal is that "you know your usage" everyone should know that imo
The figures you see may well be an average since records of energy usage were recorded for the property and not since you have been living in the property. By way of an example.

Because 'anybody' doesn't know your actual usage, only you do, just edit it and use your actual over a year.rufford155 said:

Further to the above:
Cheap Energy Club get your average consumption figures from the national database. They don't send someone around to check your meters personally.rufford155 said:Bizarrely, they had my electricity use at 5148 kWh when Scottish Power said it was 1376 !

I don't know why you think the figure would have changed in the meantime?rufford155 said:That is second time they have got my current figures wrong - see my earlier thread.
As above, it's not MSE's mistake, it's the national database. Also Martin isn't the boss. He sold up years ago.rufford155 said:And I will repeat again that Martin should be made aware of these mistakes (he's still the boss!)N. Hampshire, he/him. Previously it had asked me for my own usage figures and had always used them for ages.TroubledTarts said:The ideal is that "you know your usage" everyone should know that imo

But this time they put them in themselves.
As the gas was correct according to Scottish Power, I assume that's where they got it from.
But the electricity was out by a factor of about four.

"Anybody" who looked could see it was wrong, but it's clear nobody does.FrugaiMacDugal said:

Electricity higher than gas is ridiculous - unless you are growing cannabis in a warehouse !
A simple comparison to what I was using before would have highlighted it.
The problem is their system has no checks or balances.
"Anybody" could be code written in to their calculation, not necessarily an actual person.
Of course I edited it - but is everybody alert enough to fully check and do so ?
That's why I am giving a warning and suggesting they make improvements.0 -
Quote from a recent weekly MSE email :- "He does this annually for transparency, as it was his public pledge when he sold MSE (though he's still the boss!)."QrizB said:Further to the above:

When did I say anything had changed? I don't know what you mean.
The first error was about the unit price (years out of date) - see my earlier thread.
This error is about my usage.0 -
There's nothing absurd about 5148 kWh pa lots of households use more electricity than that."Anybody" who looked could see it was wrong, but it's clear nobody does.
