Car purchase problem

Hi there, advice needed…..
I have seen a used car and put a deposit on it. I was meant to collect the car yesterday and went to the car centre to finalize the deal and take the vehicle away. They processed my deposit contribution but then a problem occurred their end with their ict systems which meant that the invoice couldn’t be generated. They then would not let me take the car.

This has causes me real inconvenience as I had made it clear from initial dealings that I needed the car for this weekend . I have had to cancel plans. This has also led to costly expenses coming to and from this centre . What should have been an exciting evening last night getting my new car has actually led to a very frustrating experience and I also feel I have been dealt with very unprofessionally.
They have been unable to promise that I can collect the car today either yet the car is ready and waiting.
I have now completely lost confidence in the company due to the poor customer service before I’ve even taken the vehicle away. The car has not yet been transferred in my name. At this point o cannot see any dealership costs that would be incurred by me cancelling other than perhaps the facts it wax withdrawn from sale .
Can I pull out at this point?

I can't see that they have suffered any loss.
Tell them you are pulling out.1 -
At this point I can only see that I have incurred additional costs and inconvenience. They haven’t incurred any. It’s really taken the shine off the whole purchase , added to stress levels and that can’t be right when I am paying a lot of money for something
I guess I am in for a battle here though0 -
Not necessarily.
Put the situation to them.
Were you given any t&cs when you put down a deposit?0 -
Ask them and see!0

Sometimes, these things happen...
The day you were due to collect the car, their sales processing systems were down. It wasn't just that they wouldn't let you collect it, they literally couldn't complete the sale.
They can't tell you it'll be OK today, because the system's still down. They still can't complete the sale.
It's not personal. They can't sell ANY cars.
So what do you want?
Them to fix it? They'd quite like that, too.
The sale cancelled and your deposit back? That's only going to give you more hassle as you try and find another car from somebody else.
Compo...? How much?
Just the cost for one extra journey home from the dealership and one extra to? How far is it? Clearly it was a journey you were willing to take to view the car and make the decision, then to go and collect.
Something for your time? At what hourly rate?
A bouquet of flowers or little gesture to say sorry for the hassle?
Or something substantially more?
If t'were me? I'd just shrug, collect it next week, and be glad it was nothing actually serious.1 -
The stance I would take is that if you could pay in full the paperwork could follow. The failure by them put them breach and you could back out. Doing that you will loss your deposit. Regards of the right or wrongs the will force you to fight for it. If the car is good then I guess you best off sucking it up, sadly.0

There's no "fight for it". Just collect it as planned, albeit a day or three later.0 -
