Adding an extra wired intercom handset

Hi,
I live in an ex council flat in London that has 2 floors. A wired intercom handset is on the lower floor for letting people in the building into the communal hallway. The problem is that it's only bedrooms on that floor, and our daytime living space is upstairs. Whenever the intercom rings, we have a mad rush to get downstairs to answer it, and we often miss it. Also, it's easy not to hear it when we're in the living room upstairs.
I'm contemplating adding an extra wired handset on the landing upstairs by running some telephone or ethernet cable in a narrow channel from behind the existing unit, daisychaining the wire from existing handset contacts to the new one.
Has anyone done similar? The intercom system is a 5 wire system, audio only (no video to deal with) and handset is a Comelit OK2404.
I assume any 5 wire intercom handset will be compatible.
Anyway, I'd appreciate hearing any experiences.
Thanks

Would a wireless one work?0

Well, I thought Google would provide an instant answer - but you've clearly tried this yourself, and there's seemingly now't!Obviously, try Comelit themselves - they'll almost certainly give you an instant answer. As you've probably seen, 4 of the 5 wires are daisy-chained between all the flats in any case, with only separate 'S' wires going to each individual call button at the front door. So the Q is - can you D-C the S wire between two handsets too? I'd have thought so, but no idea.If it cannot, then I wonder if you can have just the new upstairs handset fully 5-wired to do everything, and the bedroom one only 4-wired (no 'S')? Would this allow you to do everything from the downstairs 'set except hear it 'buzz' from the front door? If so, you'd likely hear the buzz from upstairs anyway, so could answer the bedroom 'set!It might not be that simple, tho', as the 'S' front door button signal might also be used to 'set' your flat's handset as the only receiving one to respond, so the S wire might be essential to each handset. In short - really worth confirming with Comelit before attempting this. There are more modern Comelit models compatble with the OK2404, and also 'universal' handsets, but make sure they are fully compatible.
