My tax calcs are copied to an accountant I used to complete my Self Assessment TR a couple of times some twenty years ago.

The accountant is dead, the accountancy firm no longer exists and the building that housed his office was demolished over 10 years ago.

If there were some way to turn this CC off in my tax account I'd do so, is a phone call (or letter) the only way?
    isn't Google and gov.uk wonderful

Although that link is a bit confusing and doesn't seem very helpful apart from suggesting writing / phoning.

I did kind-of follow the instructions (needed a detour to my Business Tax Account - I don't have nor have I ever had a business) and eventually landed on a page which assures me that I have no agent authorised to my account. Think I'll write them a letter, it's too trivial a matter to be hanging on the phone for however long it takes.

Already read all that.  She has no business account and there is nowhere in the personal account which has anything to do with tax agents.  Not in hers, anyway.

thanks. should we be concerned about them having her historic records?
If your wife is concerned about that why did she give them authority in the first place.  And then subsequently do nothing about it 🤔

Hi - We have some guidance that explains the different ways refund agents can connect themselves to taxpayer records - 64-8, nomination, letter of authority etc: https://www.litrg.org.uk/tax-nic/how-tax-collected/tax-refunds/tax-refund-companies. Hope that helps.
