Car Parking Problem in a Picture

Sort of sums up the genesis of a lot of the issues, especially on street parking.

You swap the small efficient car for a fashion based and unnecessarily larger vehicle and we run out of space.

True. But you'd die pretty easily in the old Mini in a crash.
  • Wonder if anyone will claim the abandoned scooter?

    Why?

Because everyone else is driving oversize, over weight, over powered, unnecessary vehicles and we have all been caught up in the arms race?

These are mostly from the US and although most of our vehicles are still smaller, they are getting significantly larger and our roads and infra are even smaller

    Here's one:

    Nope.

What makes you think the vehicles are unnecessary?

    Here's one:

    Nope.

What makes you think the vehicles are unnecessary?
    How much does it weigh?
How much fuel does it consume?
How much damage does it incur upon our road system?

Do please tell me why they are required, let's hear your justification.

Dare I suggest this is the first time this vehicle has been off road, or I might concede if it is always parked in this manner then maybe not.

If it purchased as a working vehicle it would be dirty, it would be battered, it would not have been polished to within an inch of its life.

Think of a typical white van, it is required to be functional not fashionable.

These vehicles are bought as a tax scam in the same way as hybrid vehicles, think cycle to work but much worse.

Why did the lady that crashed through the fence of the school in Wimbledon need the vehicle she was driving? Why was that necessary?

    Nope.

What makes you think the vehicles are unnecessary?
How much does it weigh?  You can probably look that up online
How much fuel does it consume? as above
How much damage does it incur upon our road system?  Damage in what sense?

Do please tell me why they are required, let's hear your justification.  The driver/owner may feel it is the most suitable vehicle for their needs.

Dare I suggest this is the first time this vehicle has been off road, or I might concede if it is always parked in this manner then maybe not.  You can suggest anything you want

If it purchased as a working vehicle it would be dirty, it would be battered, it would not have been polished to within an inch of its life.  Perhaps the owner looks after the vehicle

Think of a typical white van, it is required to be functional not fashionable.  Is the vehicle in the photo fashionable?

Why did the lady that crashed through the fence of the school in Wimbledon need the vehicle she was driving? Why was that necessary?  No idea, why don't you ask her?

Pity the Navara driver doesn't know how to park.

How much does it weigh?  You can probably look that up online - Thanks 2000kg, approximately 60% than an average family car hence overweight.
How much fuel does it consume? as above - Thanks seems to be listed as ~45mpg whereas average uk diesel might be mid to high 50s
How much damage does it incur upon our road system?  Damage in what sense? Driving over kerbs damaging the verges, excessive weight leading to early potholes and further damaged roads

Do please tell me why they are required, let's hear your justification.  The driver/owner may feel it is the most suitable vehicle for their needs.  -  For parking off road? That vehicle has never seen a days effort.

Dare I suggest this is the first time this vehicle has been off road, or I might concede if it is always parked in this manner then maybe not.  You can suggest anything you want -  Thanks for your permission, I sustain my suggestion that they are necessary.

If it purchased as a working vehicle it would be dirty, it would be battered, it would not have been polished to within an inch of its life.  Perhaps the owner looks after the vehicle. -  Yep I can see that by the way they have parked!

Think of a typical white van, it is required to be functional not fashionable.  Is the vehicle in the photo fashionable? - In amongst all the other needless twin cabs and 4*4 that you see driving around yes.

These vehicles are bought as a tax scam in the same way as hybrid vehicles, think cycle to work but much worse.  In what way are hybrid vehicles a tax scam?  In the same way that CTW is apparently now a scam, people without real need exploiting tax loopholes for personal gain.

Why did the lady that crashed through the fence of the school in Wimbledon need the vehicle she was driving? Why was that necessary?  No idea, why don't you ask her?

Pity the Navara driver doesn't know how to park.
    Always enjoy a coherent discussion.

So do you feel it is necessary or not?

I take it you drive one of these vehicles then? Or is that yours?

Where's this going? There are a lot of human luxuries and excesses that can be considered harmful or wasteful - do you eat meat? you don't need to. This person (probably) doesn't need to drive that car.
