Balance transfers need help

Hello, I'm a bit clueless on balance transfers. I've got three credit cards; a capital one, HSBC and first direct. I wanted to move my capital one and first direct over to the HSBC one which has 0% balance transfer. I've managed to do the capital one balance transfer but I can't move the first direct one as it's owned by HSBC....so my question is could I move my first direct balance to the capital one then straight to the HSBC from there? Just want them both on one card. Thanks guys xxx

You could but that's 2 lot of transfer fees but if you are paying interest on the FD card then probably still worth doing.
  • If your HSBC card also offers 0% money transfers you could arrange to have the money sent to your bank account and settle the First Direct CC with that.

Only if your Capital One card is offering a BT promotion, otherwise no.  You can't ordinarily transfer balances from one card to another, unless the card is specifically offering a BT promotion.
As above, a Money Transfer offer (if available) may be an option.  But do remember to factor in the fees (MT offers are very rarely fee-free).
And if the HSBC card does offer MT in addition to BT, make sure you read and understand the T&Cs very carefully - particularly in respect of how payments are allocated, and how long each promotion lasts.
