I have a Chetwood Savings Account and a Smartsave Savings account. I see they are both operated by the same company. Does this mean that the TOTAL in both accounts can only be £85K to be covered by the FCA ?

Yes according to this link
https://moneyfactscompare.co.uk/savings-accounts/guides/uk-banks-who-owns-whom/#IndexedTable_C
and also the official FSCS website says they share the same (FRN:740551)
https://www.fscs.org.uk/check/check-your-money-is-protected/
To remain fully covered stay under 85K in total.
