HI everyone.
I have a court date coming up in mid-April regarding a dispute with PPS. I thought I had posted about it on here previously but I can't find my previous posts.
Anyway, I've just received an email this morning from Gladstones saying:
Does this mean the case will be struck out? Do I need to contact the court, or just wait to hear from them?
Many thanks.

Anyway, I've just received an email this morning from Gladstones saying:
We act for the Claimant.
The Claimant, without intending any discourtesy, hereby gives notice that it will not be attending the final hearing.
This notice is given pursuant to CPR 27.9.
The Court has been notified of the Claimant's non-attendance and have been asked to deal with the Claim in the Claimant's absence.
Does this mean the case will be struck out? Do I need to contact the court, or just wait to hear from them?
Many thanks.

No, it doesn't mean that. The hearing can continue with the claimant's case being judged on the docs they have supplied. Or, they could send a gun-for-hire advocate to represent them. Work on the basis that everything goes ahead as normal.Have you submitted your Witness Statement yet? With a mid-April hearing, your WS submission deadline is on top of you. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

If so continue on that thread - has the forum seen your WS etc?2 -
Thanks 1505grandad - no that's not the same case, although it's regarding the same street. I've had multiple run-ins with PPS in that street, and all previous cases have either disappeared or been won on POPLA appeal, so I was very surprised that this one has gone as far as going to court.
I must have false memory syndrome - I definitely sought the help of the lovely people here with regard to drafting a defence for a previous, unrelated case. But I must have felt confident enough to handle this one without help - perhaps foolishly!
I hope their decision not to attend will not endear them to the judge. But even so I think I have a pretty solid case.2 -
Which PPS is it? Exact name?

Sorry @Coupon-mad I didn't see your reply. It's PPS as in Private Parking Solutions (London) Ltd. It wasn't about either of those locations - it was Regis Road in Kentish Town, London.
Anyway, I am delighted to report that I won the case. The judge was clear that they didn't have a case - their evidence pack clearly showed the vehicle parked next to a sign saying "Howdens Customer Parking Only". There was no indication that a permit was required - all signs on the street requiring payment clearly relate to the non-Howdens spaces.
Given that no one from PPS bothered to turn up to argue their case, the judge was very quick to dismiss the claim. He also awarded me £100 for time off work and travel costs. What a waste of everyone's time!10 -
Great result and absolutely correct from that judge. Nicely done by you!
