Morning all, thanks for the start @Gers. A late one from me, thanks to a rotten night's sleep. Well, it was OK once I got to sleep - it was the getting to sleep part that was the problem! I was still awake at 3 am and seriously considering getting back up again, not helped by hearing the rain outside. Anyway, I eventually nodded off and slept until 10 am so at least I've had my sleep quota, just not at the right time.
As long as it doesn't become a regular thing ...... After the overnight rain it's now bright, sunny, breezy and much fresher.
Yesterday turned into the annual budget setting day and it didn't take me long to come to the conclusion it's going to be a lot tougher this coming year - expected but now a reality. I've checked all the regular bills to make sure they're correct and as low as they can be (they are) and then looked at other expenditure that's now been pruned down as far as I can get it. To add insult to injury, the increase in my DB pension will be tarnished by the taxman who'll be taking almost half of it.On the plus side, I have a savings cushion (should it be needed), am no stranger to budgeting and know I'm not as badly off as some.
With all this in mind, the shopping list I'd drawn up for the monthly SM delivery was seriously revised (many crossings out and alternatives chosen) and I've made leek & potato soup using the YS leeks and some sprouting potatoes; the rest have been peeled and are in a tub of cold water in the fridge ready for the weekend. The chicken meatballs I had for tea last night were "interesting". As DH used to say, "it filled a hole". Tbf, they weren't truly awful but not something I'll be repeating. Fresh cod fillet tonight, plain and simple and much more to my liking. Usual Friday admin stuff today followed by ??
@dp1 - Take it easy with that dodgy knee, it sounds painful.
@Scarlet - My summer clothes are still packed away for now, I can't even remember what I have. Hopefully they'll be worn more than they were last year!
@-taff - Fingers crossed the lung test goes well. My DF liked rum (Navy man) and so does my DS.
@TA - Enjoy your caravan trip, it sounds like a good weekend in the making.
Right, time to make up for my late start so I'll wish you all a peaceful day. Hugs for the Poodles, be gentle with yourselves and take care. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.11
