Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Your credit files will be linked and whenever you apply for a credit product they will also search his credit report. This will affect you as the lenders will see this as also your CCJ and debt as you are financially linked.
As others have said… wait until these have cleared and off of his credit report then go ahead for a joint account, if necessary. The impact on you could be more than you bargain for and once it’s done, it can’t be undone unless you divorce and financially separate.
Lots and lots of married couples don’t have joint accounts and manage fine.
I know it’s nice to see both of your names on something especially after getting married but it’s certainly not necessary.
Good luck!
