Bedworld - consumer rights

Hello,
I ordered 2 mattresses (1 x super king and one small double) in store with Bedworld. We were told they would be delivered to the room of our choice. All good you would think…

They were due to be delivered on a Friday, then it changed to Saturday and then it became Thursday without my knowledge. Because of this, I wasn’t there but my builder was. They delivered to the hallway only. I phoned them and after a row they said they would send someone back the following week to lift them (didn’t care about it being a huge h and s issues as it was blocking two exit routes). We managed the small double up the stairs the the superking remains in the hallway.

Fast forward to today. Again, only my builder at the house. Bedworld came and wouldn’t even try to move the mattress. Just took a look and said, amongst several excuses, that it wouldn’t fit (it will, it’s been measured) and that he had a bad back and wasn’t paid enough to lift it.

I spoke to the company again who said they won’t be coming back again and that it is basically my problem. We can’t move it without hiring someone. I ask them if they would either pay for a removals firm to come or to take it back for a full refund. They won’t pay for removals to deliver to the room and they will take it back but only with a 50% refund. I’m fuming!

Can they do this? Any advice appreciated please. Thank you

They appear to have breached the contract in that they (verbally?) agreed to deliver them to the rooms.  How did you pay?

Forget all the stuff about health and safety, it doesn't add to your case which seems solid enough.

£1123.20 total. I think the large one was £750 but would need to check

No need, I just wanted to check that the larger mattress or the whole order would be covered by Section 75 protection, and it is.  You may wish to contact the card provider to see if they can help.  They are jointly liable for the purchase.

Can they help even if we have the goods in our possession? What would happen? They arrange for refund and Bedworld collects? Thanks, I’ve never gone though cc for help like this

I'm not sure of the precise process in your situation, but there's no harm in asking for their advice at this stage.
