Trusted device cookies

I've elected to keep some cookies on my Chrome browser when the browser is closed.
This is for sites I want to recognise my machine as a trusted device.
However, I think these cookies get lost when there is a browser update.
Is there a way I can circumvent this problem?

It is Chrome on Windows10.

    Which websites are these?
They're not always cookies, though they're most likely to be.
It could be something like this:

Technically a browser upgrade would generate a new fingerprint which makes the computer not trusted now, so a cookie would probably be the next fall back method.

The same behaviour occurs if I copy my browser profile out, reset the computer, copy the exact same profile back and then try to access somewhere that was previously trusted - I have to retrust / authenticate / whatever.  Its more than a cookie I’ll sure of that, as I don't purge anything and I've never had a problem with a browser upgrade and a previously trusted site.

I had a quick look at the fingerprint link, and it seems to be aimed at companies rather than end users.
The reason I want some sites to designate a trusted device is because they can be difficult to log into.
For example, some American sites will not send a text outside the USA making it very difficult to use their website.

a browser update does not clear cookies

as suggested, try a different browser. Or it may be your site is fingerprinting the browser and when the version changes it requires re-verification.
