If you tax it now you get 12 months tax for zero cost, including this month, so it expires 28 Feb 2026.
The message is warning you that you are already taxed until the end of July, and will be double charged for the current month- but since the cost is zero it doesn't matter.

Just tax it now if you want to put off paying until next February.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Just a quick question about this,as I didnt want to start a new thread.
Im in a 22 plate Audi Etron and its 3 years old in August . Having read about the VED i have proceeded to visit Gov website and attempt this. It will let me proceed with the message of"Your vehicle will be taxed from 01 March 2025 Are you aware that your vehicle's current tax is not due to expire until 01 August 2025?
However, if you have been told to tax by DVLA, please continue with the transaction.
Am i ok to do this albeit I will forefeit 5 months of existing exemption?
Not too sure with vehicle still under the 3 years ?

    Yes. OK to do this.

You will forfeit 5 months at £0 in exchange for 12 months at £0 - just do it!!

Appreciate the advice and have followed it. Tbf the savings I have made since going electric for fuel costs have been immense . That's after the initial cost of the home charger .
