Good evening,
On 19/03/25, my last default expired and I received a notification from Equifax that it had been removed.
Fast forward to yesterday and the company have added a new account and the account status shows as default.
Are they allowed to do this? I do have an outstanding balance and since seeing up the repayment plan I've not missed any payment.
Thanks

If the account was defaulted 19/3/19 then they must stick to that.
Make a formal complaint, give them 8 weeks, escalate to FOS or ICO.

I hope someone can give further advice.
More information.
In 2022 i received a default to my credit file. I received no communication from the company.
In 2023 I checked my file (sadly I had a few defaults so score was always low) and saw this default by an unheard of company - company had changed name and the debt was being serviced by a 3rd party.
I made a complaint and the original company agreed that the default date should be March 2019.
My credit file was amended.
On 19/3/2025 I received 2 alerts saying both defaults had been removed from my account - didn't realise both the original company and the 3rd party could register a default each for the same debt.
A week later the 3rd party re-added the default.
I raised a dispute with Equifax and within 24 hours the 3rd party said the default date was correct. Equifax were now of no help.
I sent an email to the 3rd party. They have responded saying that the date for 2022 was agreed by the original company and tough luck.
I've phoned up and made a formal complaint but this has cost me a house and survey/solicitor costs.
Any advice on what to do?
Thank you again for all help0 -

Thank you again for all helpSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
