Daughters reassessment

My daughter is in receipt of Universal Credit and cares for her 15 year old son with Muscular Dystrophy. She forgot to tell DWP when her savings reduced below £6000 and when she realised she asked about it because they were taking off an amount because of the savings.
Now they want to do a reassessment and have asked for five years worth of bank statements from her and her husband. My daughter panicked and got very upset. That’s a lot of work to download the statements and then upload to DWP website. It’s this right? Her Universal Credit was stopped in 2022 when she inherited money from her Dad and then er husband was made redundant and had a lump some from that. She reapplied when the amount reduced.
i think it’s a lot to expect someone to do in the time that was given to produce the statements, although they did extend this.

Is this normal procedure?

They will want to know how the savings (capital) was spent to see if depravation of capital could apply.

They will be concerned about where the money went. Inheritance and redundancy payments 'could' be many thousands and if that is the case and the money has been spent then they will be looking for proof that it wasnt frittered away in order to reclaim benefits.0
