Contents insurance specified items (jewellery) after family separation

I am in the process of leaving my partner and the family home, and have rented a property to move into. The family home is mortgaged and we have buildings and contents insurance which has always been in my name, this isn't due for renewal until October.
We have had quite a lot of claims so it was hard to find an insurer, and I'm a bit loathed to cancel the policy. I will still be the joint homeowner (until I'm bought out, or the property is sold) so I assume it's OK to retain the policy in my name, though I will also need to get my own contents insurance for the new flat.
I have a few valuable items of jewellery (total value of around £8000) which have been added as a specified items on the (family home) insurance policy, plus a bike, which are also covered away from the home. Though I don't know the future of the jewellery (being tied to the relationship - wedding, engagement and eternity) I am wondering if I need to include these as specified items on my new contents insurance, or if them being on the existing policy is OK  - even if i don't technically live at the address anymore?

Where are you planning to keep the jewellery? I'd insure it at the address it's kept at.

If it's stuff you wear, then your new address would seem appropriate, since that's where you're living.

Standard home insurance requires the property insured to be your primary residence as such if you are living elsewhere you will effectively invalidate that insurance. Most policies allow you not to be at hope for up to 30 days so you arent going to be able to stretch it until October.

The jewellery would need to be insured relative to where they are being kept. If it's your new home then it needs to be under that policy.

yes, I'll be wearing it (except the wedding ring which has lived it's whole life in a drawer, sadly!), initially at least. I just thought if it's insured away from the home it might not matter (and would save changing the family home policy, and save the cost of adding it to a new policy).
