Dear Consumer Warriors
Our Sharp dishwasher has developed a fault 5 months and 20 days after direct purchase through Currys.
My assumptions after checking the web/this forum
My question
Is there a definition in the act of a reasonable time frame for the repair to be attempted?
Any other hints and tips are appreciated.
Many thanks

My assumptions after checking the web/this forum
- I should deal with Currys directly under the CRA 2015 - not the manufacturer Sharp.
- I am not entitled to a refund initially
- I can ask for a replacement model, but I must accept one attempt at repair from Currys

Your understanding is similar to mine - though I believe it's from the date you took receipt of the goods, rather than when you purchased them (though this only helps you).
There is not, and actually this exact subject and retailer came up in a thread quite recently. Legislation is deliberately worded in this way to afford discretion, as every situation is different.juliaz said:Is there a definition in the act of a reasonable time frame for the repair to be attempted?
I.e. you can appreciate that a month without a watch would be significantly less urgent or inconvenient than a month without something like a car.
EDIT: found it https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6595070/faulty-tumble-dryer-ongoing-saga/p1
It also contains links to the relevant CRA legislation.Know what you don't1 -

Yes, you are not automatically entitled to a refund and yes the retailer is allowed 1 attempt at a repair or replacement before you can insist on a refund.
There is no definition of what a reasonable timeframe would be - it would depend on the specific circumstances of each case.
Have you been given a timeframe?

Thanks for your helpful responses.
Still trying to get through the Currys gateway.
I always prefer handling things in writing. So I used the Webchat as there is no email address for customer service plus chat provides a transcript. This resulted in repeated attempts to divert me to Sharp with no other information or remedy offered. I assume this was to deliberately fob me off as the customer service agent advised me to contact another "team" which was Sharps phone number
Have written to head office today - hope that works....0 -
Given currys will not have their own repair staff, all they will do is contact the manufacture to come out. Which then may not be convenient for you.
So It can be quicker to simply go to manufacture & get them to look at it.Life in the slow lane1
