Morning all, dull but dry here.Thanks for starting Scarlet.I had a bus trip yesterday and left DH painting- well I would have got in the way wouldn't I ?
I got back to find all the furniture moved out and into the diner/kitchen, so a bit chaotic. The paint is slightly darker but looks good, just the top coat on the paintwork to do now.
I caught the bus back and went to the butchers to pick up my meat pack, DH met me there to bring me home. We had 1 of the contents, beef stroganoff which is just really a beef stir fry with the seasonings added but is always good. Gammon steaks tonight. The shopping is being delivered shortly so I'd better make a move.Sorry LO was upset at school @dp1, hope she's ok today. Our DGS had an upset tum yesterday and didn't go to school, he said he was a bit better last night but don't know if he'll have gone to school yet.Have a good day.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all and thanks @Scarlet for starting us off. It's forecast to be another fine and dry sunny day although it was quite chilly when I first got up.
Today is Co-op day for a very tiny shop - just milk, a TV guide and some fresh fish (if they have any) as I have a 50p MOC to use against it. It hardly seems worth it but it will be a walk out for a change of scenery and I do need the milk. I've put a bag of soft plastics by the door to remind me to take it with me. No books to return so I'll not be going that way and temptation will be avoided! Another of my "avoids" today will be the Spring Statement a la Ms Reeves - it doubt there'll be anything to celebrate and I do like to keep my blood pressure in check.
After that, I'll finish off yesterday's kitchen clean up (I have to pace myself these days) and then finalise the list of decorating stuff I need so I can get it ordered. The cheese & mushroom omelette won last night so it's fish fingers, chips and mushy peas today.
@Scarlet - Much as I hate food waste, I think I'd bin the spicy chicken nuggets too. A yogurt dip might help but there again it might not.
@Gers - Have a safe journey home.
@Cleverdaisy - I forgot to say thanks for the heads up on your DM's PC application and her long wait for a decision. Looks like I'll have to continue being patient.
Enjoy your day, caring wishes and hugs for those who need them. Take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.9 -
Morning all from a dull Mehefinland
Not much going on - that sounds like a line from 'Hot Fuzz'just some of the usual. Finished off the 2nd pallet at the library yesterday afternoon , so it's ready for planting now. A tatty frayed old green garden recycling bag transmogrified into liners for the spaces. Better than chucking it in the bin.
My front wall has partially collapsed over the years ( mostly rubbish drivers knocking it) so I started clearing the debris yesterday- gosh there's some rubbish in it. Think it was 'jerry' built many years ago. Feel like an archaeologist scraping away the soil trying to find a good solid spot to start the rebuild whilst warding off the cascade of soil coming from behind it. It will be an ongoing project for a while I suspect. It doesn't help when virtually every passerby says something on the lines of 'that walls leaning' or other sage comments. I KNOW!!!
Received some seeds in the post yesterday, ready to grow for our forthcoming ( I absolutely abhor the current trend of saying "upcoming" ) plant sale at the library. Amongst them was a FREE packet of seeds.....Swede!!! Not a vegetable I have ever grown, and no room for them anyway - even with 4 acres up the road. My friend says she has planted pumpkin seeds from the ones I grew last year and they are destined for the muckheap to grow on- nice to be told lol.
The horses are doing their impression of hair storms - it is coming off in massive clouds of dust. Lovely patches on the field where they have rolled which the birds are clearing for me. Get filthy just touching them, and grooming is a nightmare at the moment. Feel like I should wear a mask and goggles.
Anyway, these seeds won't plant themselves, so I shall push off. Hugs and spoons as always

Gers, I'm full of admiration how you keep in touch with your family, I'm a bit sad that my family isn't close at all, I have five nephews and never see any of them (or my brothers either)Thank you, though I'm so sorry to read that about your family. However, our family relationships haven't always been so good. My late brother was generous with his charmsand had three serious relationships which left five children. We were not in touch for almost all of their lives until their father died and we all come together for his funeral. A very unhappy event had a much better outcome. Now one 'child' has died, three are scattered around the word and my eldest nephew (who lives in the Midlands) and I have established a great relationship. The other three remain somewhat at arms length though not out of complete touch.
Families are odd at the best of times.6
