Changing photo on driving licence
Hi all,
I am trying to update my photo on my driving licence as it's an old photo and looks nothing like me which really should have been changed ages ago. I've not been sent a renewal letter yet as I think that's due 2027. I don't have a passport.
I have a D1 form and I've taken a new photo but what I was wondering is do I need to also include ID documents or not? I've not changed address or anything I've lived in the UK all my life, I just want to update the photo. I've read some things online saying I won't need to bother with sending in ID and something things say I do need it. So if anyone else has updated theirs and can clear this up for me that would be great
Thanks for all responses

The official guidance on gov.uk is quite clear in what you need to do. I would avoid other sites that are not gov.uk
https://www.gov.uk/renew-photo-driving-licence
"Applying by postGet a ‘D1 pack’ of forms from a Post Office that deals with DVLA photocard renewal.Include these things with your completed forms:a recent printed passport type photothe photocard and paper counterpart of your current licence (if you’ve lost either, tick the relevant box on the D1 form)a cheque or postal order for £17, payable to DVLA (there’s no fee if you’re over 70 or have a medical short period licence)Send your application and fee (if needed) to DVLA.DVLASwanseaSA99 1DHIf you’ve changed your name, you’ll also need to include identity documents."0 -

It's traditional that the photo doesn't look anything like you. I think you're making unnecessary work for yourself. My driving licence photo is about 15 years old now. It will be 20 years when the licence expires. I don't plan on doing anything about it.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1 -
Ok, I know that in fact it was ... the DVLA said.0
