Student loan repayments almost doubled despite no change in income

My overseas student loan repayments have just been recalculated from £57 to £99, when I was actually expecting them to go down slightly since my annual income dropped by a few hundred pounds.
I phoned SLC and they told me they had looked at the Spanish tax return I submitted and had approx. £34k down in their system as my income, which isn't correct and they couldn't tell me how they arrived at this figure. It doesn't match up with any figures / combination of figures on my tax return (converted into euros of course, using their published exchange rate) and following their very clear calculation steps, that would be a repayment of £106 anyway so still doesn't explain the £99 figure.
The woman on the phone said that in order to recalculate it, I'd need to submit a different proof of income (which I don't have). I don't get why they can't just look at the tax return again because my income is clearly stated on that and it's not £34k.
Is there anything I can do / anything I should say when I try calling them again?
