I'm going to be booking a holiday for 5 people - me, OH, Son 21, his girlfriend 20 and son 15.

I've looked at group insurance and it's more expensive than I thought, coming up at min £100 for 2 weeks in Spain.

Is there a different way of getting this cost down? Obviously not through lying but perhaps splitting the insurance between family of 3 and a couple? I don't think you can have 3 adults on a family? He will have technically finished uni by the holiday

Last year minus the partner we paid £50 and that was a family (different 2nd child)

There are pre existing conditions for the adults only but these are either minor or historical over 5 years and all been previously declared.

Staysure basic was £188 going up to £300 for their premium insurance

Thank you

If you split up the group to insure then if one person not being able to go means for some reason that nobody can go, only the others on that person's insurance will be covered. That's why group insurance is more expensive; because it's a greater risk; although £200 for 5 people doesn't sound expensive to me

I book group policies fairly regularly and would expect £25-£30pp. I normally only do a week but wouldn’t expect it to be double for 2 weeks.
Agree that a group policy protects you all if one can’t go. If you were hospitalised before the trip, would your adult son still go on the holiday? Vice versa?

I think that £100 is a good price when declaring medical conditions. I paid £450 for a family of 3 both adults declaring medical conditions.

    Thanks all,

I guess it's just a jump from what we used to pay for family insurance - just to confirm this is a single policy not annual.

Will crack on with the £100
