Gifting from an inheritance

it’s around complication of having a short lease and it’s shared ownership. I don’t know whether his estranged daughter is on benefits or not as I’m not in touch with them directly and I don’t have any way of finding out discretely unfortunately. .

Thank you. Yes I do worry that it might complicate things and gifting an amount opens a conversation on why it isn’t more. I’m going to have to consider very carefully. Thanks again.

I did not ask whether the daughter is claiming any means-tested benefits.
Presumably you do know whether you claim any means-tested benefits, which is the question I asked.
As a related question, is it foreseeable that you might need to fund care for yourself?
In both of these cases, if you gift away a portion of the inheritance, either via DoV or simply gifting post distribution, you may have to consider DoA.

sorry I misunderstood. No I don’t receive any means tested benefits. As far as care in the future I’m in my early 60s so it’s possible. Hopefully a while off but a good thought to think about a DoV to show that this is to me wilfully depriving myself of funds for that reason. Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Really helpful.
