How do I find out where my tenants' deposit is?

Options
My late mum was the landlord of the property that I now own and am wanting to sell. Two different agents managed the rental, and the one dealing with it now, doesn't know anything about the deposit that presumably my mother arranged. Is it possible for me to search to find it? I gather that there are several deposit holding providers.

    There are three providers ...
Each provider has two schemes, custodial and insured.
You should be able to search for what is protected, if anything, using the tenancy details.
(unless tenancy is in Scotland or NI)

Do you have the tenancy agreement? It will state the scheme on there.

If you can't find it searching then give them a call. As a tenant I needed the exact amount and as it was about 5 years since I paid it I had misremembered but they found it for me when calling.

Sorry to hear of your loss

Do you probate and did you definitely inherit ?  If so have you served valid S3 & s48 notices?  If e.g. no s48 notice served you are due no rent

Which country e.g. NI or Wales?  Law varies, as do tenancy types .  Do you ALL valid paperwork to serve e.g. s21 - if not tough to evict.

Tenants probably hold most of the cards to calm, polite, friendly, offer help e.g. flexible on dates and good references?

Any training or experience in being landlord? V v easy to make mistakes.

may be quickest to ask the tenants as they would have been given the protection details.
