Hi all,
Picked up a 2” Purdy Monarch Pro Extra at a car boot sale for a mere 50p today.
Not gunked up with paint, and the ferrule seems in good condition.

But as you can see, the bristles are out of shape. Probably been sitting a while in the wrong position.
Is there a way to reshape this back to its former glory?
Cheers!

Nice brush, the old ones are so much nicer to use if you can find them in good condition. I've got a couple of 30 yr old Harris ones which are still going strong. How about a wash and blow dry?? Its natural hair/bristles at that age I would assume? With synthetic ones, I've straightened by soaking in near boiling hot water, combed straight and then plunged into ice water to keep the new shape. But I definitely wouldn't chance that with a natural product.A good brand of brush restorer might do the trick if all else fails.0

I don’t think it is natural bristle actually. Think it’s a mixture of nylon, polyester and Chinex.
Managed to get an old pure bristle 2” Hamilton Perfection brush a few years back. Used it, forgot to clean it out, and the brush just never came back to life. Kicking myself for that!
I’ll have a look for some brush restorer (if it’s economical!)0 -
Could give it a soak in hot water and turps with a squirt of washing up liquid, loosen the bristles and rinse then put elastic band on edge of bristles and allow to dry.0
