Serviceing stop. Untrustworthy or worse?

Beware made up additional costs and work

Firstly, the collection of my car was delayed twice without notice due to issues at the repair garage, causing a two-day delay. On the third attempt, it was taken to a different garage.

The full service was eventually completed, and after driving approximately 30 miles, the vehicle appears to be in good condition. However, I feel misled by the pressured demand for additional and excessive charges for antifreeze, brake fluid, and an engine flush.

I had already paid for a full service, which should have included brake fluid and antifreeze as per the full service description. Despite this, I was charged the following additional amounts:

Check & Renew Antifreeze: £168

Renew Brake Fluid: £176.60

Perform Lifetime Engine Flush: £138

Total: £482 (including VAT)

I believe these charges were unfairly imposed and not clearly communicated in advance.

Any suggestions other than caveat emptor?

Servicing Stop are just a website that put you in contact with a local garage. Whether that local garage have tucked you up is a different question.

One question would be why any local garage worth using doesn't have more than enough business based on their reputation alone...

But let's look at those prices.
You say the service "should have included" brake fluid and coolant - replacing, or just checking/topping up?

Replace coolant. When was it last done? £170 is high, though.
Renew brake fluid. When was it last done? £176 is high, though.
Engine flush. Unnecessary unless oil changes have been previously neglected.

You say you were "misled and pressured" - so you were asked and did agree to them being done?

'lifetime engine flush" LOL. The one thing in common with these 3 jobs is that you can't prove if anything has been done or not.
