Going back to Sky?

I haven’t had Sky TV for donkey’s years – at least 12 years. However, I watch Formula 1 so I normally pay for Sky sports on Now TV at around £22 a month although this year I got a 12-month gift voucher for Sky sports which finishes in January. (The only sports channel I ever watch is F1)

I also pay £15.50 for Now entertainment and cinema (reduced deal), £5.99 a month for Netflix with ads £4.99 for Disney+ and £8.99 for AppleTV

I’m having real problems with NowTV on my Samsung smart tv. I spend more time on line to their help services than I do watching TV. (Brief precis for info – NowTV won’t load on the TV – works fine on my tablet and phone. We’ve updated everything, TV and app, uninstalled it and reinstalled it faffed around non stop with it. It will work once then it goes back to not loading)

So, I am thinking of other ways to get Sky Sports. Yes, I have a loaded firestick that I use for holidays but don’t want to go down that route fulltime.

SkyTV are offering Sky Stream, Netflix and Sky Sports for £35 a month but it’s a 24-month contract and the price can, (and no doubt will) increase during that time

So, can anyone tell me if the channels Sky offer are comparable to those offered by Now Entertainment Disney and Apple?

Is there a maximum they can increase the monthly price to or is it a free for all?  How much extra is Sky Cinema? (I’ve tried looking on website).

And can you record from Sky? (You can’t from NowTV.) TIA

That is on Sky stream that offer, so no, you won’t be able to record.  Now entertainment package I would say is same as the sky stream offering.  Seems odd the NOW Tv app doesn’t work on the tv, it’s fine on my Samsung tv.

Channel wise Now is Sky so you'll get all the same content, Apple TV and Disney apps are on Sky Stream, in terms of price of Sky Cinema they seemingly make it up as they go along, however taking Cinema and Sport usually activates a bundle discount, another added advantage is with Sky Cinema through Sky Paramount+ is included, also Discovery +is included with the entertainment plans.

As for recording its limited, you can record the sports so the F1 sessions or anything else you wish, you won't record from the Sky channels as it will just use the on demand version, if you add a programme to your playlist from BBC, ITV, CH4 it will use their catch up app, Channel 5 cloud records, the lesser entertainment channels are a bit iffy as in its a toss of a coin if it records, if there is no catch up available your sod out of luck.

If your TV is a bit older, they may have stopped supporting the App for your particular TV model. Our LG TV apps stopped being supported a few years ago but we stopped using them anyway. TV is 10 years old. Sounds more of a Samsung issue than a Sky one.
