V5C Scam when trying to sell my car on Autotrader and HPi Check Flagged Stolen Car

Hi recently tried to sell my Audi on Autotrader, a chap posing as a genuine buyer came to view the car. I did think slightly odd that he came with a few friends, they asked a few questions and then said they wanted to go away and think about it and then will let me know. I then discovered a couple of days later that I had been scammed, I had shown them the V5C as they said they wanted to do some checks, but what they actually did was transferred the V5C into another name, creating fraud. I then had to record this with both DVLA and the Police and I also believe they cloned the number plate and put on another similar car. The Police have now concluded that they are happy that the car is genuinely mine and also DVLA have now issued me with a new V5C. I'm still keen to sell my car however noticed, when I do a check against my car registration it is still showing as stolen and recorded by Police. I've also chased up with HPI for them to update their records to remove the stolen flag as I can't sell my car. Has anyone experienced something similar and can they advise what steps they undertook to get the flag removed? I currently can't sell my car until the HPI flag showing car is stolen is removed, very frustrating!!

I think it would be the police's responsibility to update the record, because they are the ones who put the stolen flag on it. HPI simply collate the data their providers provide.0

When did you get the HPI check?
I suspect that HPI data only updates with a periodic frequency - especially when the data is an improvement.0 -

Hpi does not update very quickly.I went to buy a car, the owner had move 6 months before, Hpi did not update this.Over half an hour on the phone to them, before they got an update.Purchased the car and drove away.0
